Hong Kong in Action!

hkfilmp

Ever since our first trip to Hong Kong, it has been me and my sister’s goal to visit as many places that have appeared in our favourite movies (and music videos).  From our recent trip to Hong Kong we have finally collected enough content to create a post about theses places!

戀人絮語 Lover’s Discourse (2010):

The laundromat that Kay Tse’s character works at is located in Tsim Sha Tsui on Kimberly Street. A big applaud goes to my sister, who found this place by typing in “laundromat” in Google Maps and looking through each result.

點五步 Weeds on Fire (2016):

We made our way out to Sha Tin to visit the bridge that features in Weeds on Fire. Named沙燕橋, the bridge is named after the baseball team in the movie.

重慶森林 Chungking Express (1994):

Credit goes to hongkongonfilm.blogspot.com for listing these locations in Wong Kar-Wai’s Chungking Express. The mid-level escalator that is close to Tony Leung’s character’s apartment is located in Central. There is one section of the escalator that uses this type of flat ramp as opposed to the usual steps.

The eatery (Midnight Express) that Faye Wong works at is located in Lan Kwai Fong. It has closed down and now it is a 7-Eleven.

The first part of the movie is mostly filmed in Chungking Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsui, a building that is home to many racial minorities. It was a pity that we did not get to go in the building for a look.

志明與春嬌 Love in a Puff (2010):

This bridge, where the main characters of Love in a Puff walked on, was located right in the middle of two MTR stations, Ngau Tau Kok and Kowloon Bay. It was a tiring trek to Jimmy Bridge (named after Shawn Yue’s character) but it was worth it nonetheless. Plus, it was a great place for a photoshoot.

Musics Videos:

哪裡只得我共你 (You and Me)- Dear Jane:

We found the alleyway featured in Dear Jane’s 哪裡只得我共你 by searching up the street name that appeared in one shot of the music video. This is Tsui Yip Street in Kwun Tong.

經過一些秋與冬 (Days Gone By)- Dear Jane:

Another song by Dear Jane, 經過一些秋與’s music video has scenes shot in Kwun Tong as well. This is located right beside the MTR station on Kwun Tong Road. You can actually see the MTR train passing by in my photo of the location.

It was a great experience to see all these places with my own eyes and I hope to do more of this the next time in Hong Kong!
